Scholarship Opportunities

The Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education at Virginia Tech offers several opportunities for students in the department to receive scholarships.  Many of the annual recurring scholarships are described here.  Applications are reviewed each spring.

The Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education has access to a general scholarship fund to support undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the department’s academic programs.   Fund number 884165.

This scholarship program is for graduate students who are enrolled in Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, majoring in agricultural education.  Preference is given to graduate students based on academic achievement, leadership potential, and financial need.  Fund number 885751.

This fund provides financial support for students who are pursuing an agriculture education program.  Recipients are selected on the basis of (1) academic achievement, (2) extracurricular leadership and service, and (3) financial need.  First preference is given to students who are graduates of any high school in Scott County, Virginia.  Second preference is given to graduates of Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Dickenson, Grayson, Lee, Russell, Tazewell, Smyth, Washington, Wise, or Wythe counties.  Third preference is to any student enrolled in the program.  Fund number 885228.

This scholarship is for students preparing for a career in vocational education and have evidence of financial need.  The award is initially made to a first year student and continued through graduate school, provided that the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress.  Fund number 884490.

This fund provides financial support for graduate or undergraduate students who are pursuing an agriculture education program through Virginia Tech’s College of Agricultura and Life Sciences.  Fund number 885633.

This scholarship is for junior and senior students in the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5.  Fund number 883801.

This fund provides financial support for graduate or undergraduate students who are pursuing educational opportunities through the agriculture education program at Virginia Tech.  Fund number 884098.

This scholarship is for undergraduate students with a major in the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education.  Preference is given to previous recipients who continue to qualify in subsequent academic years. Consideration may also be given to students demonstrating an intent to teach in the fields of agriculture or Extension.  Consideration may also be given to students who are members in good standing of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets.  Fund number 860198.

A portion of this fund is used for scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students who are studying agricultural education.  Fund number 885376.

This scholarship is awarded to students In agricultural education based on merit and financial need.  Fund number 884512.

This  scholarship is awarded to students with a major in the Department of Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education.  883831.
