Tyler-Mackey chosen as Extension Leader for Inclusion and Diversity

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Crystal Tyler-Mackey will serve as the Extension Leader for Inclusion and Diversity for Virginia Cooperative Extension.  Virginia Cooperative Extension values an inclusive and diverse organization.  It also values the commitment to provide programming for diverse audiences and to be inclusive in its programmatic offerings.  The Extension Leader will collaborate with the Dean/1890 Extension Administrator of the College of Agriculture at Virginia State University and the Associate Dean and Director of Extension at Virginia Tech in the development and implementation of programs to address our organizational aspirations.  Specifically, responsibilities include:

  • Conduct training and programming on Coming Together for Racial Understanding
  • Provide leadership for the Diversity and Inclusion Fellows program
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Diversity, VT CALS
  • Seek opportunities for additional training and program implementation to further diversity and inclusion aspirations
  • Stay abreast of contemporary DEI issues through professional development, networks, reading and skill development in partnership with DEI professionals nationally, statewide, and at the universities
  • Support efforts to improve recruitment, onboarding, and retention of underrepresented faculty, interns and volunteers in VCE
